- VOLUNTEER FORM SEEDS OF HOPE PROGRAMS (weebly.com)
- Become a foster parent or adoptive parent
- One child, one church – if every church had a least one family who fostered or adopted, chances are, every child in the foster or adoptive care system would have the opportunity to hear and witness the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Volunteer/partner with a foster family, become their “support family”- baby sit, supply an occasional meal, act as a mentor to that child encouraging their gifts and talents, cheer the child on during school and sport functions, etc...
- Have your church become a model for fostering and adoption- have families that want to be a part of this (foster/adopt), organize and take it upon themselves to foster and/or adopt siblings groups so families can be close and keep in touch often.
- Join a foster support group (i.e. Stokes County Foster Parent Association or Heroes Helping Heroes)
- Sponsor an activity for foster children- outings to ball games, plays, sports participation fees, amusement parks, concerts, camps
- Treat the foster parents to a night out- dinner, movie, event
- Announce information about fostering/adoption in the church bulletin
- Sponsor children for Christmas, birthdays, Easter, back to school needs
- Pack diaper bags and supply to licensing agencies for distribution to foster families with age appropriate placements - diapers, wipes, lotions, toys, bibs, pacifiers
- Pack overnight bags for distribution to foster families with appropriate placements- underwear, pjs, socks, deodorant, shampoo, lotion, toothpaste and tooth brush, toy, books
- Give a child a suitcase with their name on it – it’s personal and needed (and much better than a trash bag)
- Design/buy a scrapbook to give to children- something they can take with them
- Buy a camera for foster children- this way they can record their journey
- Create gift baskets for foster parents- videos with popcorn, baked goods and candy, spa items, game night items, coffee, hot chocolate and tea with mug.
- Create a “Welcome to the Family Basket” to distribute to foster families- with toiletry items, blanket, special pillow, stuffed animal, school stuff/coloring books, books, gift certificates
- Hold an open house to create interest in fostering- serve refreshments, hand out information, have foster parents do the speaking
- Buy a class ring, school pictures and/or year book- some of our children are in group homes.
- Invite foster families to your church- regular services, special events or just to be a part of a special group or activity.
