- Completing an application with your local Department of Social Services or other foster care agency (i.e.: NC Baptist Children’s Home).
- Having home visits with licensing agency
- Complying with a background check and fingerprinting
- Completing training classes
- Complying with fire marshal inspection of your home
- Complying with a DSS home inspection to determine sufficient living space, cleanliness, and safety measure and precautions are utilized
- Receiving state licensing approval after completing application process with the placement agency
