Jana currently serves as the Executive Director of Heroes Helping Heroes. In this capacity, Jana is responsible for overseeing the implementation and execution of the Seeds of Hope summer camp and mentor programs for children that are at-risk, in foster care, or adopted. In addition to the child specific programming, Jana oversees an adult based program aimed at the children’s’ parents and caregivers with the goal of breaking generational patterns of abuse, neglect, and dependency.
Also core to her role is recruiting, training, and leading a team of youth and adult volunteers from the local feeder communities while nurturing their skills and talents to establish strong and trusting relationships with the children in their charge. By nature, these programs create an environment in which youth leaders are groomed to become mentors by nurturing their spiritual and emotional growth with the objective of establishing within them a lifetime desire to serve.
In addition, Jana uses her role to raise awareness of the statistics relative to vulnerable children and their families through educational outreach programs and speaking engagements, encouraging communities to respond to the vital need to foster, adopt, or mentor. Jana also collaborates with other resource agencies, drawing upon their knowledge and resources in order to maximize impact within the local region as many counties referring children to the Seeds of Hope programs are large, under-resourced and predominantly rural.
Jana is also a REALTOR with Century 21 Smith Love Realty in King, NC. Prior to her service with Heroes Helping Heroes and Century 21, Jana was a Marketing Consultant for Clear Channel Radio, one of the largest entertainment corporations in the country. During her tenure with Clear Channel Radio, creativity and personal investment defined her approach to account management. It was there that she learned to be fluid and flexible, always ready to change based on the needs of the customer base and local market to guarantee optimum service delivery.
Jana believes that personal accountability standards are critical to the success of any individual and ultimately leads to the success of the organization represented. Jana firmly understands that nothing happens by accident. Every decision we make and every road we follow is God’s way of preparing us for “such a time as this”.
Jana received a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations from Salem College and graduated Cum Laude. Jana is married to John Elliott, has four gorgeous children, eight spectacular grandchildren, two sweet dogs, and a menagerie of mini potbellied pigs, chickens, ducks and goats. Jana and John have fostered over 20 children and are completely humbled that the Lord has used their home as a safe haven for so many precious babies to heal and grow.
